Alejandro López

Alejandro López, winemaker and manager of Beronia, takes over from Matías Calleja, winemaking legend of Tim Atkin MW's “Rioja 2023 Special Report” and key reference at Beronia for over 40 years, whose legacy of innovation and sustainable approach continues to be an inspiring pillar for this new stage.

Alejandro's extensive international background has led him to combine technical knowledge and sensitivity to the vineyard with a current vision of the wine market. Alejandro represents the new generation that is setting trends in the industry. In 2018 he was recognized by Decanter as one of the 10 revelation winemakers in Spain.

At the head of this team we find Alejandro López, a figure without whom it is impossible to understand Beronia wines. With a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the University of La Rioja and a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Navarra, Alejandro López began his career as a field technician, advising winegrowers and winemakers on organic production. The new head of Beronia will accompany the winery in its trajectory of more than 50 years.
